Are you ready to improve your health or just find ways to use all that cabbage in your summer garden? Are you intimidated by the idea of making fermented foods and drinks? Making your own fermented foods will not only dramatically increase your health, but also save you lots of money! In this fermentation class you will get an overview of several fermented goodies! Local certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and small farmer Melissa Burgess will give an overview of kombucha, milk kefir, and sauerkraut before participants get their hands dirty! The hands-on portion will be creating your own fennel, leek, and dill sauerkraut. Participants are asked to pay an addition $10 supply fee and will be sent home with your own jar of sauerkraut and kombucha SCOBY!  

(NOTE: The additional fee covers printed materials, ingredients, jars, and freezer bags for folks to take home.)

Are you wondering what to do with all of your garden bounty? Well, let's make sauce! In the course Local certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and small farmer Melissa Burgess will teach you how to make a classic pesto, arugula pesto, basic marinara, and a hot sauce! What better way to enjoy your harvest by creating delicious an simple sauces. All of these recipes can be frozen and stored so you can enjoy your harvest well after the harvest season. Participants are asked to pay an additional $10 supply fee and will be sent home with their own sauces to enjoy later.

This class will cover all the basics of planning and planting for a continuous organic harvest in our area!  Learn all about how you can have fresh veggies in every season! This comprehensive class is not to be missed! Taught by Eastside Urban owner Brighida deVargas, with over 25 years of agriculture, horticulture, and landscape design experience.

This class will cover everything you need to know about raising your chickens from cute little chick to egg-producing hen! We've been renovating our upstairs and have transformed it! Along with a classroom space, it now includes a LARGE RETAIL AREA for all our food preservation products (like canning, cheesemaking, fermenting, butchering, etc)
